We’re now well into the month of March and that means one thing: “March Madness.”

Two of the three things I like most about this month are springing our clocks ahead, (not setting them back, Rob Ford) and the Madness.

You say you have no interest in one of the best tournaments of the year?

Have you heard of the “perfect bracket?” Well, I’m here to fill you in and there are a billion reasons why you’ll be interested.

Quicken Loans and Warren Buffet are teaming up offering $1 billion for the perfect bracket.

Interested now?

What a great marketing move to piggy back on a tremendous tournament. March is the perfect time to get more eyes on a promotion. Baseball is still in spring training mode, hockey and basketball aren’t in playoff mode yet, and the NFL only has the draft which is still a two months away.

Where else can a 12 seeded team beat a 6 seeded team? College hoops are where kids still have a passion for the game and play to win and as a team, as opposed to the pros who play for their next big contract.

This promotion will get a lot of play this month during the selection show where a selection committee determines which teams deserve to be in the tournament. I can hear Dick Vitale calling a team Buffet’s Babies. TV anchors will you mention this during their newscasts. If you don’t want to miss out on entering you can register for the billion dollar promotion through Yahoo.

Let’s not forget Quicken Loans role in this. In order to register you have to fill out a form, name, address, email all that information they can’t attain on their own. Once you register they’ve got you and all your information, and now can try and win your business. Unless you pull off a miracle and select the bracket without mistake. You won’t need a loan from Quicken to pay off all your debt.

College basketball generates big time revenue and a huge following and Buffett isn’t the only billionaire to get involved.

Rupert Murdoch realized the attraction to college basketball and last year acquired the rights to the “Catholic 7.” Seven teams DePaul, Georgetown, Marquette, Providence, Seton Hall, St. John’s, and Villanova, he agreed to air their games on his network. He realizes that college basketball has huge revenue implications for his network, and he decided to throw $3 million a year at each of those schools to broadcast their games.

According to research from 2013, TV ad revenue for the NCAA men’s college basketball tournament exceeded $1 billion last year — topping the total revenue for the NFL postseason, so you can understand why two fiscal giants want to align themselves with such a great product like college basketball.

Oh, you want to know your odds of winning this promotion? Your odds would be 9,223,372,036,854,775,808 to 1. Yes, that is a 9 with 18 digits after it, or more than 1 in 9 quintillion. And to quote Lloyd Chrismas “So you’re telling me there’s a chance….Yeah!”
