Thomas Nickell

Five-Star Mandarin Oriental, Boston is excited to welcome the Alexander & Cosmo Buono Foundation and 19-year-old American Pianist and Young Steinway Artist, Thomas Nickell, for a special community pop-up performance in the hotel lobby on Friday, March 23, 2018 from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M.

Accompanying the live concert, guests will enjoy a selection of seasonal refreshments from Pastry Chef Robert Differ. Thomas Nickell will also be available for one-on-one media interviews, following the performance.

Thomas Nickell

Nineteen-year-old Thomas Nickell continues to garner praise for his strong interpretations and insightful readings of some of piano’s most demanding literature. An array of accolades mark the progress of his career, among them having been named a Young Steinway Artist. Selection for the prestigious honor—one shared by less than 80 other pianists throughout the world—came to Nickell at age 15, a year before he was able to accept it as the minimum age requirement is 16 years old. Continuing to distinguish himself through performances around the world, audiences and critics credit Nickell with not only an energetic and refined musical presence, but also a sensitivity and ability to interpret that extends well beyond his years. As a composer, Nickell has had his works performed in Europe, Asia, and the United States.

The Alexander & Buono Foundation

The Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation established in 2008 with a mission to identify the world’s most promising classical musicians and help them launch and sustain careers, while developing new audiences who understand, value and appreciate classical music.
