There may still be a chill in the air, but before you know it everything will be in full bloom and the hustle and bustle of the summer season will be here. Best of all, a change of season brings ample PR opportunities for clients. From promoting existing initiatives, to creating new seasonal-based ideas, there are an abundance of opportunities at hand!

Summer PR ideas:

Menu Changes

  • Do you work with restaurant clients? In our office, we have several hospitality-based clients and with the change of season comes a change of ingredients. Notify local media of any pre-fixe menus that will be available or seasonal dishes that will be offered.
  • If there are no menu changes planned, help your client come up with some creative ideas to lighten up existing menu items to make them appear more “summer-ized.” Or, add a creative cocktail to the menu. With bikini season in effect, we’ve had great luck pitching low-calorie summer beverages for people looking to watch their waistlines.

Al Fresco Dining

  • When the sun is shining, people want to eat outdoors.  Distribute a round-up of restaurant clients that provide outdoor seating, their hours of operation, and anything else newsworthy about the outdoor space. For example, will they allow pets in the outdoor seating area and do pets get their own special menu? Everyone wants to enjoy the nice weather outside, even our furry-legged friends!

Construction/Real Estate News

  • The spring real estate market is at its peak this time of year. If you have any clients in the real estate business or construction business, now is the time to push any big sales transactions or project completions. It may sound mundane to some, but real estate and business trade publications thrive on this type of news.

Social Media Campaign

  • Not all, but many people have more free time in the summer with shortened work weeks or vacations planned. Maximize this opportunity and engage people to visit your client’s business during their time off. The quickest, fastest and most engaging way to capture these folks is on social media. Create a summer social media campaign with different promotional and give-a-way ideas to encourage people to stop by. For example, “Like” us on Facebook and enjoy half-priced appetizers every Thursday in July. Once they “Like” you, you can engage them all year-long.

We hope this gets your summer PR juices flowing. Regardless, warm weather is almost here and we can all bask in the onset of the season!

Cheers,

Larisa Kupris
