When in the need for creative PR initiatives for clients, we often find it helpful to determine an angle that some clients have in common, such as common menu items, a similar philanthropic mission, or a shared neighborhood location that allows us to secure coverage for multiple clients at once.

The Seaport District in Boston is a hot neighborhood with a multitude of businesses, restaurants, hotels and residential buildings growing up from former one story buildings or parking lots. Several Regan Communication Group (RCG) public relations clients are located in the Seaport district; we capitalized upon the desire to enhance the neighborhood connectivity among the businesses by establishing yet another fun-filled event that will also secure joint media coverage AND show off this fabulous location for events, or dinner and drinks along Boston Harbor.

The idea is simple – few things bring people together faster than a little friendly competition, warm weather, and sangria.

IMG_0833The result is the Seaport Sangria Smackdown – the first of its kind in the Seaport District. Various neighborhood restaurants will come together on May 13thfrom 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Seaport Boston Hotel. Each participating restaurant’s bartender will bring their sangria A-game; whether an existing recipe from their eatery or a new twist on an old classic, guests will be the final judge of who will be dubbed the Seaport Sangria Smackdown champion!

Guests will enjoy sangria tastings and light hors d’oeuvres. They are encouraged to vote for their favorite sangria, with one restaurant being crowned the Seaport Sangria Smackdown Champion!

Some of the participating restaurants include: City Bar, Empire Restaurant and Lounge, Legal Test Kitchen, MC Spiedo, Sam’s at Louis, TAMO Bistro & Bar, and The Barking Crab.

Tickets are $20 each and can be purchased online at: www.sangriasmackdown.eventbrite.com

The restaurants and bartenders taking part in the Sangria Smackdown are getting great public relations and social media support from RCG, which is translating into great visibility in the media. The event is also good visibility for the Seaport Hotel, the neighborhood, and certainly for all of the participating restaurants, as their tasty sangria may drive guests back to their establishments after the event for dinner or to finish out the night.
