Robin Thicke + 1-800-Flowers = Marketing Fail

With all the negative press Robin Thicke has recently received, “romantic” is quite possibly the last word one would use to describe him. After a public fallout with his wife, a controversial song and being involved with Miley Cyrus’ MTV scandal, it’s quite surprising that 1-800-FLOWERS would host a promotion with him in an effort to boost sales.

According to their website, if you order two select bouquets (embarrassingly) titled, “Forever Love” or “Get Her Back,” you then can score a free digital download of Paula, Thicke’s woeful new album dedicated to his departed wife, when you use the promo code “THICKE” at checkout.

Even the description (and the $394.99 price tag) of the “Get Her Back” bouquet is cringe-worthy:

Looking for a guaranteed way to get her back? Send our lush and luxurious bouquet of 100 romantic premium long-stem red roses! Inspired by Robin Thicke’s hit single, this spectacular rose arrangement is artistically hand-designed by our expert florists to help you express your feelings perfectly. We’re sure she’ll get the message.

With the association to Thicke, this marketing ploy doesn’t even come close to enticing “the one who got away” with its thinly veiled “apology” bouquet. Instead, it feels insulting and just overall tacky.
