Congratulations to the Concord Museum, whom we’re honored to represent, for taking the top spot on USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards list of the country’s “Best Small Town Museums”. The recognition comes as the museum – renowned for its extraordinary collection of objects from the Revolutionary War and literary giants Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau – is preparing to mark the 250th anniversary of the start of the War for Independence on April 19. USA TODAY’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards showcase and recommend top attractions and businesses voted on by readers across the country. The Concord Museum is grateful to everyone who voted for them.
Meanwhile, we’ve been busy publicizing the museum’s plans to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Revolution’s start, including a Free Community Day on April 19 with family programming and complimentary admission. At the “April 19, 1775” exhibit, guests can view the iconic “one if by land, two if by sea” lantern that hung from Boston’s North Church to communicate to patriots the route that British soldiers were taking on the night of Paul Revere’s famous midnight ride. Additionally, the “Whose Revolution?” exhibit opens March 28, curator David Wood has a new book titled “Eyewitness to Revolution: The American Revolution Collection at the Concord Museum,” and a planned bike ride in May will follow Paul Revere’s route on the fateful night of his famous ride.
