Hagerstown, MD – (April 5, 2025) – Ocean State Job Lot (OSJL) is pleased to announce its expansion into its tenth state, and the opening of its first store in Maryland. Located at 17151 Cole Road in Hagerstown in the former Christmas Tree Shops in Crosspoint Shopping Central, the new store provides nearly 30,000 square feet of convenient shopping space for customers and has provided nearly 50 new jobs for the community. OSJL is scheduled to add locations in Chester, Easton, and Elkton, MD by early summer.
OSJL marked the occasion with a ribbon cutting ceremony today featuring representatives from Ocean State Job Lot as well as Caroline Anderson, Hagerstown City Councilmember; Jonathan Horowitz, Director of the Department of Business and Economic Development of Washington County; and Emily Conrad, Hagerstown Economic Development Coordinator.
As part of the OSJL Foundation’s ‘Close to Our Heart’ initiative, an ongoing commitment to the communities in which it does business, the Foundation contributed Ocean State Job Lot’s Operation Sleep Well kits to North Point Veterans Home in Hagerstown. The kits contain linens and other essentials for veterans living in transitional housing.
The grand opening festivities also included a live broadcast from 101.5 Bob Rocks, complimentary photos with the Easter bunny and free coffee, hot chocolate, donuts, and glitter tattoos. All event attendees also had the opportunity to win one of three $150 Ocean State Job Lot gift cards.
“We are thrilled to expand our company’s footprint and open an Ocean State Job Lot store in Maryland. We are excited to introduce our vibrant, and value-driven shopping experience to this state and within this community,” said Kiersten Pruett, Store Team Leader, Ocean State Job Lot in Hagerstown.
This location has created jobs for nearly 50 people in the community including supervisory, full-time, part-time, and seasonal roles. OSJL is expected to open approximately 20 new stores this year, bringing new storefronts to Maryland and Delaware.
