We are all familiar with the color pink representing Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October – and we at Regan Communications Group (RCG) are hoping to do our part to have the color BLUE take on the same significance for diabetes, which affects more than 29 MILLION Americans – almost 10% of the population – and is the 7th leading cause of death in the U.S.. President Obama recently proclaimed November to be National Diabetes Month, calling upon “all Americans, school systems, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, health care providers, research institutions, and other interested groups to join in activities that raise diabetes awareness and help prevent, treat, and manage the disease.”Joslin_078_1049

RCG is working to increase awareness for the widespread impact that diabetes has on the population and emphasize the work that world-renowned Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston is doing as it delivers cutting-edge care and performs innovative research to find a cure.

On Saturday, November 14th if you are driving or walking through Boston, you’ll see the Zakim Bridge- one of Boston’s most notable landmarks- lit up blue for World Diabetes Day, which will remain blue in support of National Diabetes Month the next weekend.

Joslin Diabetes Center’s annual black tie High Hopes Gala on Saturday, November 21st will spotlight Joslin’s cutting-edge care and innovative research initiatives over the past year while raising money for Joslin’s High Hopes Fund, which supports the Center’s greatest needs in research, education and clinical care.  Emceed by NBC’s Weekend TODAY meteorologist, Dylan Dreyer, the event will feature exciting silent and live auctions, as well as a raffle which includes the chance to win two tickets to Elton John’s 2016 Oscar Party together with a 2-night stay at the W Hotel in West Hollywood, CA! The event honoree will be Doug Melton, Ph.D., renowned stem cell researcher and Xander University Professor at Harvard University; also honored will be thirteen-year old Joslin patient, Lilly Branka. She is only a teenager, but has been living with diabetes since the age of 3 and has learned to not only manage her diabetes but has worked to raise money to support the search for a cure and to educate others about diabetes and how important Joslin has been as a resource for her famJoslin_175_0783ily.
