Multi-Million Dollar Expansion at Cape Cod Hospital Gives Patients Top-Level Care Where They Live

We were honored over the past few weeks to work with Cape Cod Hospital to inform the public about a major expansion there.. Last week, the final two floors of the new $215 million Edwin Barbey Patient Care Pavilion opened this, the third floor serving cardiology patients in a centralized advanced care unit and the fourth floor adding 32 beds to accommodate the region’s demand for medical and surgical services. That expansion is in addition to the pavilion’s first two floors, which house the state-of-the-art Davenport-Mugar Cancer Center, which opened this past spring. “It’s been part of $1 billion that we’ve put back into this health system over the past ten years,” said Mike Lauf, president and CEO of Cape Cod Healthcare, in a recent piece on Boston’s WCVB-TV highlighting the expansion. “We really wanted to modernize our facilities and improve our technologies because we have to be here for our community.” The expansion means that patients who live on or near the Cape who cannot, or don’t want to, drive into Boston, can still access top-level care for serious medical needs.
