Lighting It Up for a Most Important Cause

Clear Channel Outdoor recently acquired the rights to manage South Station’s specialized LED lighting system, 75 impactful ad displays, and two captivating digital screens.  This was properly viewed as a major business success for Clear Channel Outdoor, one that will provide powerful new branding and messaging opportunities for its clients.  The digitally controllable LED lighting system that lights the façade at South Station has the capability of producing custom light shows from a palette of more than 16 million colors.

While this is a major business initiative for the outdoor advertising giant, it’s also providing Clear Channel Outdoor with a powerful new avenue to have a positive impact on charitable and community initiatives.  This power is now being exercised to help raise awareness and support for the battle against a disease that impacts an estimated 2.3 million people worldwide – multiple sclerosis.  During National MS Week, Clear Channel Outdoor is illuminating South Station in bright orange light – inside and out – to draw attention to the fact that MS researchers and care providers need more support.

Working in public relations, especially at Regan Communications, we work with a variety of organizations that support charitable causes.  But the work to generate awareness and support for MS research is of critical importance for millions of individuals and families.  Many people may be surprised to learn that there is not only no cure for MS, but also, there is no known cause.  Someone is diagnosed with MS every hour of the day.  Researchers and care providers face considerable challenges in trying to learn more about MS and in helping people living with the disease to achieve a better quality of life.

Clear Channel Outdoor is proud to help the National MS Society and Greater New England MS Society in the mission to create a world free of MS, but it cannot be done without help.  Orange is the national color for Multiple Sclerosis Awareness, and the illumination of South Station will hopefully have a big impact bringing attention to this issue.  So, if you notice that glow coming from South Station, please realize it is not an “Orange Alert”.  Instead, it’s a reminder that your help is needed to assist in the battle against MS, and that help will help doctors, care providers and the patients for whom MS is sadly, the most important part of their lives.  You can learn more about how to get involved by visiting www.nationalmssociety.org/Chapters/MAM.
