They say a rising tide lifts all boats. With the Patriots heading to the AFC Championship game this weekend, that couldn’t be truer for New Englanders. Naturally we’re all amped for the game, but can your company generate a little PR goodwill thanks to the home team, too?
Sullivan Tire and The Animal Rescue League of Boston clearly have nothing to do with football. But they each participated in the hype and engaged their Facebook communities with Pats-themed contests. The Animal Rescue League encouraged fans to submit photos of pets showing their Patriots spirit (#ARLPawsforPats) in order to win a signed football by Logan Mankins, while Sullivan tire rewarded likes and shares with the chance to win a Blout jersery. Both saw significant engagement surrounding the promos (nearly 3000 likes, 122 shares and 285 comments for the Sullivan Tire Facebook post alone!).
Do you own a retail shop that sells Patriots gear or a restaurant that will be showing the game? The media will be looking for gamerelated angles all weekend (and hopefully for the next two weeks leading to the Super Bowl!). So invite them to your establishment to talk to fans, offer yourself as a source to discuss the new AFC championship gear being produced, have the owner of your well known restaurant make a bet with the owner of another well-known restaurant in Denver, promote the fact that your barbershop can do Patriots logo buzz cuts, or unveil a special doughut named after Brady in your coffee shop.
You get the idea…you don’t need to be a sports-related company to be a part of this story! And did we mention that Hot Diggity Pet Boutique in Dennis is offering temporary Patriots tattoos for pups, along with red white and blue nail polish? Think it will generate some buzz? You bet it will.
Go Pats!
