After months in the making, the swine sensation, Chris P. Bacon, made his inaugural trip to Boston for a special visit to renowned rehabilitation hospital, Franciscan Hospital for Children.
Chris P. Bacon, a one-year old pot-bellied pig, was born with a deformity of his hind legs leaving him unable to walk. His vet, and now “dad” Dr. Len Lucero, wouldn’t give up on the precious piggy and built him a wheelchair to get around with ease. Since then, Chris has graduated to custom wheels complete with a Chris P. Bacon license plate!
Chris, along with Dr. Len, visited the hospital on Wednesday, February 26th and stopped at the hospital’s various units to spread their message of triumph in the face of adversity and the children loved it!
Chris P. Bacon’s very special visit to Franciscan Hospital for Children here in Boston became a media sensation, garnering attention not only nationally, but internationally with coverage in the Daily Mail and Metro UK!
The media enjoyed spending time with him almost as much as the children did, one reporter even interviewed the star piglet about his thoughts on traveling to chilly Boston to see the kids! Mr. Bacon responded with a big “Oink!” of excitement.
The fun didn’t stop at Franciscan, after visiting almost every unit of the hospital, Chris P. made a stop at the offices here at Regan to say hello to all his new friends!
Chris P.’s dad, Dr. Len, said he was overjoyed with the experience that the dynamic duo had at the hospital and was proud Chris P. could bring some Florida sunshine and smiles to the children at Franciscan! Both Chris P. Bacon and the kids have memories together that will last a lifetime!
