Environmental Protection: ThayerMahan’s technology makes offshore wind construction safer for endangered whales

Our client  ThayerMahan, Inc., a maritime technology company based in Groton, Conn., was highlighted in a PBS News piece about the offshore wind energy industry. The PBS News Hour piece by Science, Technology and Aerospace correspondent Miles O’Brien featured ThayerMahan’s support for offshore construction while protecting marine life, particularly endangered North Atlantic right whales, which can become stressed or injured by ship traffic and noise related to turbine construction. ThayerMahan’s solution utilizes Big Bubble Curtains to protect whales from loud noises and SeaPicket buoys to detect whales and prevent ship strikes. ThayerMahan’s prominence in the report is a reflection of the company’s pioneering maritime solutions, as well as the excellent work of Regan Communications Group’s Connecticut division, Quinn & Hary Marketing.
