Although the weather was sunny, warm and humid, Team Providence recently got a taste of winter promoting Feld Entertainment’s Disney on Ice: Let’s Celebrate. The show, which wrapped up last week at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center, presented us with many opportunities to leverage media coverage for our client. Here are the top ways we managed to get the word out!

Bring Out The Celebrities!

The Disney archives are full of beloved characters. But there’s no Disney character more well-known than Mickey Mouse! By providing Meet and Greet opportunities with the famous mouse, and his good friend Minnie, fans young and young at heart were excited to take part in the launch of the show!

Let Them Eat Cake!

No, seriously! The Mad-Hatter and Alice in Wonderland throw an “Unbirthday Party” during a routine in Disney on Ice: Let’s Celebrate! We decided to throw an Unbirthday Party of our own, inviting a group of culinary students from the Exeter Job Corps PROSTART program to compete to create a delicious array of cakes and even had celebrity judges including Mayor Fung of Cranston, and Dan Jaehnig and Mark Searles of NBC 10 which gave us great exposure on the number one television station in the market and also on all of their popular social networks. We even threw in a round of musical chairs, making the afternoon a truly unforgettable experience!

Announce Your Arrival With Pizzazz!

Many times, we send out information about our clients to the media via email attachments or gift bags. For Disney on Ice: Let’s Celebrate!, we wanted to try something new. We decided to deliver special-order, three-foot tall balloons stuffed with promotional materials, including a calendar listing and miniature Mickey Mouse, to brighten up newsrooms and radio stations!

Take the Chance to Give Back!

Opening night fell on Friday the 13th, a day traditionally associated with bad luck and superstition. We wanted to reverse all that bad luck, and instead turn someone’s day around! We partnered with Toni & Guy Academy of Cranston to give 13 girls from Make a Wish Rhode Island and Massachusetts a princess makeover, VIP seats to the show, and the chance to meet the Fairy Godmother from Cinderella. We’re pretty sure we had just as much fun as the girls putting the event together and snapping shots of the Makeovers!

By thinking outside the box and throwing in some local celebrities, fun and games, we were able to gain valuable media coverage for our client and promote Feld Entertainment’s Disney on Ice: Let’s Celebrate! show. We can’t wait until the next Providence show in December!
