In this day and age, corporate social responsibility (CSR) plays a huge role in the overall success of a business. For businesses to be successful today, there must be an underlying commitment to the community and environment in which a business works. With Millennials at the helm of this movement, many are changing their consumer behavior in accordance with CSR.
The Nielsen Global Survey on Corporate Social Responsibility reported in 2015 that 55% of the respondents said they would pay more for goods and services from companies committed to positive social and environmental practices. Prices aside, companies that were socially responsible are finding a more loyal consumer pool as buyers relate CSR with trustworthiness. In the same survey, it was found that 90% of shoppers worldwide were likely to switch to brands that supported a good cause.
Regan Communications is fortunate enough to work with one of these socially responsible companies; Dependable Cleaners. Since 1944, Dependable Cleaners has been serving the Greater Boston community. With more than 70 years of experience, Dependable Cleaners has become a staple in the area not only for their expertise in garment care, but also their commitment to giving back to the community.
Read to Ride sets a great example of Corporate Social Responsibility.
Dependable Cleaners’ annual Read to Ride program is a summer program which both encourages and incentivizes children to continue reading throughout the summer months. In order for Read to Ride to be a success, Dependable Cleaners partners with various schools, bookstores, libraries, youth organizations and bike stores throughout Greater Boston to build on participation.
The way that Read to Ride works is for every book a child reads, the child is encouraged to fill out an entry form. Entry forms can be found at participating schools, bookstores and libraries. A grand prize winner and two runner up winners are selected every Monday between the months of June and August. The grand prize winner receives a free bike and helmet and is featured in The Patriot Ledger as well as other hyper local outlets.
In its 17th year, Read to Ride has been encouraging students across Massachusetts to read for fun and we are proud to announce that through this program, more than 72,000 books have been read! As Dependable Cleaners has grown they have always remained socially responsible and aware of the communities in which they serve.
Though Read to Ride is a remarkable program, Dependable Cleaners’ community involvement doesn’t stop there. Dependable Cleaners is a proud partner of Dress for Success Boston, in which Dependable Cleaners cleans and presses suits for disadvantaged women on the employment search.
