One of Boston’s favorite traditions continues for Boston Marathon 2016!

This week, Boston is gearing up for the 120th Boston Marathon 2016. As the oldest marathon in the country, this annual event brings tourists from all over the world to our city to cheer on their loved ones and enjoy the spring weather. Whether you are running the marathon yourself, cheering someone on, or drinking the day away as a spectator, there are plenty of ways to get the most out of your Marathon Monday.

Are you working Monday but still want to be a part of the action? The Marathon Monday Party starts earlier than you think. Starting at 6am, marathoners pack the buses at the Boston Common where they travel to the race’s starting point. Being able to wish the runners luck and send them on their way is a perfect way to get involved before you have the head to the office for the day. There’s even ways to keep track of the runners from anywhere around the world. The Official App of the Boston Marathon is the perfect way to keep tabs on your favorite runners, share photos and check the leaderboards. Explore the hashtags #Boston2016 or #BostonMarathon to stay updated on all of the action.

One of the things that keep the Boston Marathon going are the volunteers! There are so many ways to volunteer your time to help make the Marathon better and better each year. You can help out at the starting line, finish line, as medical support or even at the post race party. One great way to get involved is cheering the runners in Wellesley College’s famous Scream Tunnel or hand out waters after the dreaded Heartbreak Hill.

Of course, there are those who use Marathon Monday as the perfect spring day to party. The Pour House offers a delicious boozy brunch is conveniently located right before the finish line on Boylston Street. Cityside in Brighton has a patio that provides a bird’s eye view on runners going on their 24th mile. Though the bars may be packed, thousands of spectators flood the streets of Boston and cheer on the 30,000+ runners.

This year’s marathon is set to be a beautiful 70-degree day. Enjoy the festivities as we kick off spring time and stay #BostonStrong!
