Boston Community Pediatrics (BCP), the first nonprofit private pediatric practice in Massachusetts, held its annual Thanksgiving Meal Distribution on Tuesday, Nov. 26, to help ease the financial burden experienced by many of its patients and their families during the holidays.
“Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays,” said Dr. Robyn Riseberg, a pediatrician and the founder of BCP. “But if you are struggling to make ends meet, it can be a stressful day, and it is so important to all of us at BCP that patients are able to enjoy the holiday with their families and loved ones.”
BCP supplied each meal recipient with everything needed for a memorable Thanksgiving feast, including a turkey, Thanksgiving sides, a pie, shelf-stable food, and fresh produce. Staff and volunteers distributed 300 bags of groceries donated by the YMCA and Greater Boston Food Bank; 325 turkeys donated by the City of Boston; 325 boxes containing three sides and a pie, all sourced from minority-owned local businesses through Commonwealth Kitchen; and 350 winter coats from various donors for children who need them.
Additionally, BCP provided 300 bags of fresh fruits and vegetables and over 300 Stop & Shop gift cards. The items were distributed at the Jacobson Parking Lot near BCP’s 527 Albany St. office.
Volunteer drivers delivered meals to families without access to transportation, and BCP arranged Uber rides home for families with multiple bags and boxed items. Any remaining holiday kits will be distributed tomorrow to families who could not attend on Tuesday.
“Boston Community Pediatrics is incredibly grateful to our outstanding BCP Brigade volunteers and the National Charity League, Wellesley Chapter,” Dr. Riseberg said. “Their dedication and generosity make events like this possible, providing vital resources to the families we serve. Together, we’re building a stronger, healthier community—thank you for being an essential part of this mission!”
