In February, the National Coast Guard Museum took another major step forward to becoming a reality in downtown New London, Connecticut. And Quinn & Hary Marketing, a Regan Communications Group company, was there to make it happen planning an historic signing ceremony for a landmark Memorandum of Agreement to create the nation’s first and only National Coast Guard Museum in New London. The agency rallied to provide event management, public relations and marketing support via traditional and social media and online channels.
To solidify the local, state and federal partnerhip, Governor Dannel Malloy, Admiral Robert Papp – Commandant of the United States Coast Guard, Mayor Daryl Justin Finizio, and James J. Coleman, Chairman of the National Coast Guard Museum came together on Wednesday, February 19 at the historic Union Station to sign this milestone Memorandum of Agreement. The historic document details the cooperative relationships and mutual commitments required to build the museum along New London’s historic waterfront district adjacent to the historic train station and ferry terminal. Quinn and Hary lead the way to plan and orchestrate the commemorative signing ceremony by organizing event logistic, designing VIP invitations, drafting speaking roles, pitching media coverage, and creating an event program. The event was a huge success for the client generating more than 100 people in attendance including Senator Richard Blumenthal and Congressman Joseph Courtney among other local and state government officials and community leaders. Media coverage was far reaching with stories on all four major Connecticut television stations including FOXCT, NBC CT, News8, and WFSB3, as well as local, regional and national media exposure via the Associated Press, NPR radio, Hartford Courant, New Haven Register, The Day, Norwich Bulletin and Mystic River Press. Social media exposure pre/post event also garnered more than 7,000 views on Facebook and 12,000 impressions on Twitter.
As a result, the National Coast Guard Museum Association received a finacial boost through contributions to its Barque EAGLE Society, and was able to make a big splash in the community for the nation’s first and only National Coast Guard Museum. In the words of the client, “Thanks to the help of Quinn & Hary, we are one major step closer to our dream of an iconic museum honoring the heroism of the men and women who answered the call to always be ready, as in the Coast Guard motto: Semper Paratus. We appreciate your continued support.”
