With all the current changes Instagram is making, everyone is wondering how to stay on top of their #insta game and creating really engaging Instagram content. Here is how to make sure your posts still get seen.

The photo sharing app has changed their layout design, updated to a colorful new icon, but most importantly the way the feed is set up. The new algorithm feed pushes important and related posts to the top, rather than being shown chronologically. Before launching, it was tested on a small group of users who seemed hesitant to the change at first.

But “over the past few months, we brought this new way of ordering posts to a portion of the community, and we found that people are liking photos more, commenting more and generally engaging with the community in a more active way,” says the company in a recent blog post.

With that in mind, the company is about to change in a huge way and push for the change with all users globally by the end of the month. So how do you keep your posts noticed instead of no where to be found?

For more Engagement from your Instagram Content:

  • Stay present. Posts that are fresh and relevant that incorporate related handles and wide range hashtags will help other users find your work.
  • Connect with people. Follow accounts similar to your own. Like and comment on their posts, and they will most likely do the same in return.
  • Use observation. Pay attention to your posts, as well as others, that get the most engagement and interaction. Then post more of the similar content. This will help keep your feed consistent.

For better and more beautiful photos from your Instagram Content:

  • Keep an eye out for moments. When taking photos, take a moment to see before snapping. Always take the photos on your phone or camera, rather than the Instagram app itself.
  • Tone it down. In most cases, you’ll be able to control the intensity of the filter and a little bit can go a long way. Also take advantage of editing apps like VSCOCam, Afterlight, Snapseed, or Photoshop Express.
  • Practice, practice, practice. Use natural light, different angles, and play with props and white space. Aim for quality, not quantity.
